What are some ways your company has helped firms go "paperless" and/or "green" in the last few years? Dan Zitting CPA.CITP, CISA — 30 Vice President of Product Management and Design, ACL Services Ltd. New York, New York We have led the audit industry into cloud and mobile technologies for audits that take the concept of "elec- tronic" (paperless) working papers to a new level. For instance, our mobile app al- lows any auditor to capture photos, videos, and sound as audit evidence – skipping entirely the need for printed evidence in the field. Have you embraced cloud computing, and how are you helping professionals move to the cloud? Absolutely. We built the first ever (and still only) truly cloud-based audit manage- ment system. Like sales departments have flooded to Salesforce.com for CRM over the past five years, audit departments are doing the same now with us. How mobile are you regarding your Website: www.acl.com Facebook: www.facebook.com/danzitting Twitter: www.twitter.com/danzitting LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/danzitting Education: Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems & Finance, Master of Science in Ac- countancy Professional Associations/Memberships: AICPA, IIA, ISACA work? How have mobile devices and apps impacted your productivity and work-life balance? Hobbies: Travel, Golf, I split time between offices on the east and west coasts. My iPhone and the apps on it that I depend on make the crazy schedule and con- stant variation in environ- ment manageable. Skiing, Outdoors, Tech What ONE piece of tech- nology could you absolute- ly not live without? MacBook Air. Best computer I've ever owned and the core tool for the design and development of the software products I build. NOT including your current employer, what company do you most admire and why? I've always admired the local hardware store my father has run now for over 25 years. Singular focus on two simple things 1. think about the customer first and 2. provide exceptional service. Seems basic and silly, but most of us in large organiza- tions really lose site of this. It's truly amaz- ing what relentless focus on such simple goals can accomplish. What sports team/ championship event do you absolutely re- fuse to miss? Denver Broncos foot- ball – welcome to Den- ver, Peyton Manning! 16 | 2012 CPA Practice Advisor 40 Under 40 BACK TO PAGE 4 Do you have a tablet? I have an iPad 2 and am thrilled to be shortly announcing our first native app for it. Expanding ACL Workpapers from iPhone to iPad will fundamentally shift the way auditors are able to conduct their work in the field. What is your favorite professional mo- bile app, and why? ACL Workpapers for iOS because we built exactly what I wanted for my own audits! Self promotion aside though, my life would be a travel organization disaster these days without TripIt. Wonderful. How many monitors do you have on your desk? ONE (but a very good one from Apple). I've had up to four, but pay attention to how much time you actually spend ar- ranging windows on all those screens and you'll find one is actually more productive in most cases.
