What are some ways your firm has gone "paperless" and/or "green" in the last few years? We also utilize an electronic portal for receiving and delivering documents with our clients. Finally, we offer our client's tax returns on disc rather than paper. Have you embraced cloud computing for your prac- tice? Are you moving your clients to the cloud? How is cloud computing changing the accounting profession, and how con- cerned are you with the security issues related to cloud computing? Hobbies: Reading, Cooking, and Time with Family To some extent our practice utilizes cloud computing for certain ap- plications. In some cases we choose to utilize on-premise solutions depending on the software and the needs of the firm. We recommend cloud applications to our clients based on client's requirements and needs. In addition, we encourage our clients to utilize our portal for file sharing purposes. Security issues regarding cloud com- puting is always a concern and proper due diligence is required when evaluating cloud vendors. What tips on social media do you think are essential, but perhaps missed by professionals? Social cues, so much of communication is non-verbal/non-written, and I think that is sometimes lost with the increase in social media. My tip would be to keep this in mind when crafting conversations and be sure your message is clear. What ONE piece of technology could you absolutely not live without? My Blackberry, it allows me to reply to clients constantly and increase our level of client service. NOT including your current employer, what company do you most admire and why? Apple, the innovation and continued success of the company is amazing. How mobile are you regarding your work? How have mobile devices and apps impacted your productivity and work-life balance? Yes, we utilize Citrix, which allows us to log on to our server from any location, which increases productivity and fosters an enhanced work-life balance. Have you found business success via social media, either via recognizable ROI, new customers, marketing or networking? Yes, we have found success using Linke- dIn, both from a networking prospective and a recruiting effort. What sports team/championship event do you absolutely refuse to miss? Florida Football, Go Gators! Do you have a tablet? iPad. How many monitors do you have on your desk? Two, most others at my firm have three, but I prefer two.
